Bespoke Home Projects

Fluid ApartmentThe Concept was to insert fluid curvilinear joinery pods within the gutted existing shell, to house the wet areas and services, as well as sculpting the space.

The soft curves of this joinery were in response both to the view as well as the curved façade of the existing building. Copper highlights and solid timber (milled from fallen 200 year old trees) bring richness and contrast to an all white space.

Subtle and understated detailing enhances the ambience of calm.

North Shore House An extensive renovation to the heart of a home. A restructuring of the spatial organization to create efficiency and cohesiveness to a family home, with dedicated areas for different tasks – cooking, baking, etc.

The design brings a bit of drama and fun into the home and includes custom designed tables, beetle-track stools, recycled timber paling fence feature wall, blackboard column and cafe area.

Avoca Weekender A casual holiday home: a place where extended family can gather to create memories; robust enough for hoards of children and luxurious enough for adults.

A strong relationship to outdoors taking advantage of it’s bush setting with sunlight, privacy and diagonal views modulated by pivoting and fixed timber screens.

Outdoor rooms have been designed to accommodate different functions and times of day.

Balmoral House A series of houses cascading down the hill overlooking Chinaman’s beach.

The design maximizes the views as well as relationships to outdoor spaces – courtyards, gardens and pools – by the use of pavilion forms defining outdoor spaces between them, whilst ensuring water views from all living rooms and the master suites.

Treehouse A challenging and inspiring steep site, on the edge of the Lane Cove river. The bush setting is embraced with the house dramatically perched amongst the trees.

Challenges included restricted site access, bushfire risk mitigation and tight budget.

This project has been recognized for its contribution to sustainable building design and featured extensively in the media both locally and internationally.

Cliff Edge HouseThe core idea of people living and engaging with place is an underlying principle of this practice, given expression in the manner in which this cliff edge home engages with it’s surroundings, not in a general expansive nod to view, but in a varied and intimate manner.

Balmain House An ‘adaptive reuse’ design of a house on a tiny site within a Conservation Area. The design seeks to clearly express the new insertions counterbalance against the original fabric.

St Ives House A contemporary renovation of a classic 70’s Modernist home.
