The aptly named home for Steven and Lisa explores how timeless and sleek design can create comfort as a family home, high among the treescape. Steel columns minimise construction impact on the ground, with all sustainable, recycled and low toxic materials used throughout. Non-hazardous paint finishes and food grade oil to seal floorboards enabled a healthy and safe space to raise two young children.

The design cantilevers out into the trees, with the butterfly roof appearing to hover above. Expansive full height windows and sliding doors create a fluidity between the outdoor and indoor spaces – the maximum penetration of light highlights the connection the house has with nature.

Always in harmony with its environment, Tree House seeks to blur the boundaries in defining space, ensuring ultimate comfort and calm for a family living in the leafy north shore bush.
